London-based design agency L & Co was commissioned to provide a strong visual design system for Royal Holloway stemming from the College’s Brand Review. This recognised that familiarity breeds favourability and in order to compete successfully we needed to present ourselves in a clear and consistent style that is appropriate to one of the UK’s top research-led institutions.
The brand design project has created a cohesive and consistent design framework for Royal Holloway that reflects the brand essence of in touch, innovative and influential. The design system has been implemented by External Relations across all publications, posters, invitations, advertising and stationery, and via complimentary design templates across the College web site.
The distinctive new style incorporates a signature panel featuring a graphic silhouette of Founder’s tower and promotes a bold colour palette, contemporary fonts, a fresh approach to images and a smart, structured layout.
A singularly important element is the new logo based on the Founder's tower silhouette and a new name treatment for Royal Holloway, University of London as primary forms of identification. This has captured our signature image and the most distinctive university building in the country while revitalising our identity for the 21st century
