Welcome

Welcome to the Widening Participation and Outreach programme. The programme is designed to introduce students to university, raise aspirations and enich the curriculum in schools and colleges. We deliver an extensive range of activities, courses and events which have inspired and motivated many learners.

Our subject specific activities are developed in conjunction with our academic departments across three faculties: Arts, Sciences and History & Social Sciences, and in partnership with national and regional organisations.

Widening participation is an important strategic objective for Royal Holloway. Our goal is to widen access to higher education by encouraging and supporting people who have the ability, motivation and potential to thrive at university.

The Widening Participation Team at Royal Holloway work in partnership with schools, colleges, other higher education institutions, Connexions, the Learning and Skills Council, Aimhigher, further education colleges, learning partnerships, and the voluntary and community sector to raise aspirations and attainment with a view to increasing the numbers of people from under-represented groups attending and succeeding at university.

"Here at Royal Holloway, our students come from a diverse range of academic, social and cultural backgrounds and bring with them a great variety of qualifications and experiences. We are truly committed to widening access and creating pathways to higher education, and strive to provide students with a high quality learning experience."
Professor Rob Kemp, Deputy Principal
